SWINGING DOOR HARDWARE
Swinging Doors were found
between kitchens and dining rooms in the 19th and early 20th century. Their
function was primarily to allow the hostess, cook, butler, or homeowner to pass
from the kitchen to the dining room with trays of food. The doors usually pivot
from a hinge mounted on the floor and a steel or cast iron pivot mounted on the
top of the door. Specifications for our hinges are shown on spec sheets listed
below.
Historic Houseparts carries a
wide variety of swinging doors and also the hardware for them. Click the links
below to see some of our reproduction hinges and push plates, or finger plates
as they are sometimes called.
